भारत के 'ग्रैंड ओल्ड मैन' दादा भाई नौरोजी की जयंती

Dada bhai nouroji : आज भारत के ग्रैंड ओल्ड मैन के नाम से लोकप्रिय रहे दादाभाई नौरोजी की जयंती है। स्वतंत्रता संग्राम की नींव रखने वाले दादा भाई नौरोजी का जन्म मुंबई/बम्बई में 4 सितंबर को के एक गरीब पारसी परिवार हुआ था। उन्हें सम्मानपूर्वक को ‘ग्रैंड ओल्ड मैन ऑफ इंडिया’ कहा जाता था।
उनके पिता का नाम नौरोजी पलांजी डोरडी तथा माता का नाम मनेखबाई था। दादा भाई केवल 4 वर्ष के थे, जब उनके पिता का देहांत हो गया। दादा भाई का पालन-पोषण उनकी माता ने किया। अनपढ़ होने के बावजूद भी उनकी माता ने उनकी पढ़ाई का विशेष ध्यान दिया।
बम्बई के एल्फिंस्टोन इंस्टिट्यूट से पढ़ाई पूरी करने के बाद मात्र 27 वर्ष की उम्र में वे गणित, भौतिक शास्त्र के प्राध्यापक बन गए।
* दादा भाई ने सन् 1851 में गुजराती भाषा में रस्त गफ्तार साप्ताहिक शुरू किया था।
* सन् 1885 में बम्बई विधान परिषद के सदस्य बने।
* सन् 1886 में फिन्सबरी क्षेत्र से पार्लियामेंट के लिए निर्वाचित हुए।
* दादा भाई लंदन के विश्वविद्यालय में गुजराती के प्रोफेसर भी बने और 1869 में भारत वापस आए।
* सन् 1886 व सन् 1906 में वे इंडियन नेशनल कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष बनाए गए।
* दादा भाई नौरोजी ने भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस की स्थापना में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई थी।
* यह बात उस समय की है जब कांग्रेस में विचारधारा के आधार पर दो गुट बन गए थे, जिन्हें 'नरम दल' और 'गरम दल' कहा जाता था। दोनों दलों की कार्यशैली उनके नाम के अनुसार ही थी।
* इस बीच सन् 1906 में कांग्रेस के कोलकाता अधिवेशन की तैयारियां जोरों पर चल रही थीं। दोनों दल अध्यक्ष पद हथियाने के लिए रणनीति बना रहे थे ताकि पार्टी में उनके पक्ष का दबदबा बढ़ सके। इस कारण यह पूरी आशंका बन गई थी कि इस बार का अधिवेशन बिना झगड़े के समाप्त नहीं होगा। यह सब देखकर कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ सदस्य विचलित होने लगे।
* वे सोच रहे थे कि किस तरह अध्यक्ष पद के लिए संभावित झगड़े को रोका जाए। बहुत विचार करने के बाद उपाय सूझा और उन्होंने इंग्लैंड में रह रहे दादा भाई नौरोजी को तार भेजा कि कांग्रेस के हित की खातिर वे इस जिम्मेदारी को एक बार फिर निभाने के लिए तैयार हो जाएं।
* इसके पूर्व वे दो बार कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष रह चुके थे। स्थितियों को देखते हुए दादा भाई तैयार हो गए और 71 वर्ष की आयु में वे कांग्रेस के तीसरी बार अध्यक्ष बने। अब उनके कंधे पर सबसे बड़ी जिम्मेदारी थी कि वे दोनों दलों को एक साथ रख पाएं ताकि जो ताकत अंग्रेजों से लड़ने में लगनी चाहिए, वह आपसी द्वंद्व में ही नष्ट न हो जाए।
दादा भाई दोनों पक्षों को यह बात समझाने में सफल रहे कि परिस्थितियों के अनुसार दोनों ही तरह का रुख अपनाने की जरूरत है। चूंकि दादा भाई का सभी सम्मान करते थे, इसलिए उन्होंने उनकी बात को सुना और समझा। इसका नतीजा यह हुआ कि दोनों दलों के नेता यह बात स्वीकारने लगे कि हमेशा एक जैसा रुख अपनाने से काम नहीं चलता। दोनों ही दल एक-दूसरे की विचारधारा की जरूरत को समझने लगे। इस प्रकार टूटने के कगार पर पहुंच चुकी कांग्रेस में दादा भाई नौरोजी के प्रयासों से फिर एकता स्थापित हो गई।
दादा भाई नौरोजी ने सन् 1906 में एक अध्यक्षीय भाषण में उन्होंने स्व-शासन की मांग सार्वजनिक रूप से व्यक्त की थी, उन्होंने ही सबसे पहले देश को 'स्वराज्य' का नारा दिया। ऐसे स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के अग्रणी और आधुनिक भारत के निर्माण अपना अनुलनीय योगदान देने वाले दादा भाई नौरोजी को उनकी जयंती पर शत्-शत् नमन। ब्रिटिश हाउस ऑफ कॉमन्स के पूर्व सदस्य दादा भाई नौरोजी का स्वाधीनता संग्राम के इतिहास में विशेष योगदान है, अत: हर भारतीय को उन पर गर्व होना चाहिए।
