जब भगवान शिव भी आकुल हो उठे मोहिनी को पाने को .. पढ़ें पौराणिक कथा

समुद्र मंथन से निकला अमृत कलश दैत्य एक दूसरे के हाथों से छीन रहे थे, इसी बीच एक मनोरम स्त्री उनके बीच में चली आई। सभी उस मनोरम स्त्री के सौन्दर्य को देख हठात् मोहित हो गए, वे सभी आपस का झगड़ा भूल कर, उन मनोरम स्त्री के पास दौड़ कर गए। दैत्यों ने देवी से पूछा तुम कौन हो? कहां से आई हो? सुंदरी तुम क्या करना चाहती हो? देवी को देख कर दैत्यों के बीच खलबली मच गई। दैत्य कहने लगे ! अबतक देवता, दैत्य, सिद्ध, गन्धर्व, चारण और लोकपालों ने तुम्हें स्पर्श तक नहीं किया होगा, अवश्य ही विधाता ने तुम्हें सम्पूर्ण इन्द्रियों एवं मन को तृप्त करने के लिये भेजा होगा। सुंदरी ! तुम हमारा झगड़ा मिटा दो। तुम न्याय अनुसार निष्पक्ष भाव से इस अमृत को बांट दो, जिससे हम लोगों में और अधिक झगड़ा न हो।

वास्तव में श्री हरि विष्णु योगमाया शक्ति से युक्त हो, मोहिनी अवतार धारण किए हुए दैत्यों के पास गए थे, योगमाया शक्ति के प्रभाव से तीनों लोकों में ऐसा कोई भी नहीं हैं जिसे वश में नहीं किया जा सकता हैं, यही योगमाया शक्ति 'आदि शक्ति' हैं।

दैत्यों की प्रार्थना पर, तीनों लोकों को मोहित करने में समर्थ मोहिनी देवी ने दैत्यों हंसकर से कहा, '' मैं माया हूं तथा आप महर्षि कश्यप के संतान हैं, मुझे न्याय का भार क्यों दे रहे हैं? बुद्धिमान पुरुष को स्वेच्छाचारी स्त्रियों पर कभी विश्वास नहीं करना चाहिए।

मोहिनी देवी की परिहास भरी वाणी, दैत्यों को और अधिक आश्वस्त कर गई और उन्होंने अमृत से भरा कलश उनके हाथों में दे दिया। मोहिनी देवी ने अमृत का कलश अपने हाथ में ले, दैत्यों से कहा ! मैं जो भी करूं, फिर चाहें वो उचित हो या अनुचित, अगर तुम्हें स्वीकार हो तो तुम्हें अमृत बांट सकती हूं। उनकी मोहयुक्त मीठी बात सुनकर, सभी दैत्य देवी मोहिनी के प्रस्ताव पर सहमत हो गए। मोहिनी देवी ने अगले दिन अमृत पान करने की सलाह दी, मोहिनी देवी के आदेशानुसार अगले दिन समस्त दैत्य स्नान कर अमृत पान करने हेतु पंक्ति में बैठे, देवता भी वहां आ कर बैठ गए।

मोहिनी देवी अमृत का कलश हाथ में ले कर आई, वे बड़ी ही सुन्दर साड़ी पहने हुई थीं, आंखें नशीली हो रहीं थीं। कलश के समान स्तन तथा गज शावक के सूंड के समान जंघाएं थीं, देवी के स्वर्ण नुपुर अपनी झंकार से सभी को मोहित कर रहीं थीं। सुन्दर कानों में कुंडल थे तथा उनकी नासिका, कपोल तथा मुखारविंद बहुत ही मनोरम थे। बाद में भगवान के इस मोहिनी अवतार ने देवों को अमृत पान कराया और दै‍त्यों के साथ छल किया।

उधर जब भगवान् शिव ने सुना कि श्री हरि ने दैत्यों को मोहित कर, देवताओं को अमृत पिलाने के लिए स्त्री रूप धारण किया, वे उस स्थान पर गए जहां भगवान् श्री हरि निवास करते थे। वहां जा कर शिव जी ने भगवान् श्री हरि की स्तुति-वंदना की, श्री हरि ने शिव जी को दैत्यों को मोहित करने वाले मोहिनी रूप दिखाया। एकाएक शिव जी, एक रंग-बिरंगे फूलों से भरे-पुरे उपवन में पहुंच गए...वहां उन्होंने बड़े ही सुन्दर परिधान पहने हुए, कमर में करधनी पहने एक सुन्दर स्त्री को क्रीड़ा करते हुए देखा।

उन देवी ने लज्जा भाव से मुस्कराकर तिरछी नजर से शिव जी की और देखा, बस फिर क्या था कामदेव को भस्म करने वाले भगवान् शंकर का मन उनके हाथ से निकल गया। वे मोहिनी देवी को निहारने लगे, उनकी चितवन के रस में डूब शिव जी इतने भावातुर हो गए कि उन्हें अपने आप की भी सुध न रहीं। जहां भगवान् शंकर की मोहिनी देवी पर आंखें लग जाती थीं, लगी ही रहती थीं तथा उनका मन वही रमण करने लगता था, वे मोहिनी देवी के अत्यंत आकृष्ट हो गए थे। उन्हें मोहिनी भी अपने प्रति आसक्त जन पड़ती थीं, उनके हाव-भाव के शिव जी का विवेक शून्य हो गया था तथा वे कामातुर हो गए थे। अपने वैरी कामदेव से मानो परास्त होकर महादेव जी विष्णु के मायामय मोहिनी रूप को जानकर भी पीछे-पीछे दौड़ने लगे॥

पार्वतीजी का ख्याल त्याग कर शंकर मोहिनी के पीछे लग गए। उन्होंने उन्मत्त होकर मोहिनी के केश पकड़ लिए। मोहिनी अपने केशों को छुडवाकर फिर वहां से चल दी। शंकर फिर उसके पीछे-पीछे दौड़ने लगे। उस समय पृथ्वी पर जहां-जहां भगवान् शंकर का वीर्य गिरा, वहां-वहां शिवलिंगों का क्षेत्र एवं सुवर्ण की खानें हो गई। तत्पश्चात यह माया है, ऐसा जान कर भगवान् शंकर अपने स्वरूप में स्थित हुए।
