द्रौपदी के 5 के बजाय 14 पति हो सकते थे, लेकिन | draupadi 14 husbands

पांचाल देश के राजा द्रुपद की कन्या पांचाली अर्थात द्रौपदी का जन्म एक यज्ञ से हुआ था। महाभारत से इतर एक अन्य कथा के अनुसार द्रौपदी के 5 पति थे, लेकिन वो अधिकतम 14 पतियों की पत्नी भी बन सकती थी।

पहली कथा-

- महाभारत के आदिपर्व में द्रौपदी के जन्म की कथा में व्यासजी कहते हैं कि यह अपने पूर्व जन्म में ऋषि कन्या थीं। अपने कर्मों के फलस्वरूप इसे कोई अपनी पत्नी के रूप में स्वीकार नहीं कर रहा था। तब इन्होंने शिवजी की घोर तपस्या की।

-तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर शिवजी ने कहा, तुम मुंहमांगा वर मांग लो। तब उस कन्या ने कहा, मैं सर्वगुणयुक्त पति चाहती हूं। तब भगवान शंकर ने कहा, तुझे पांच भरतवंशी पति प्राप्त होंगे। 

-कन्या बोली, मैं तो आपकी कृपा से एक ही पति चाहती हूं। तब शंकरजी ने कहा, तूने पति प्राप्ति हेतु मुझसे पांच बार प्रार्थना की है। मेरी बात अन्यथा नहीं हो सकती। दूसरे जन्म में तुझे पांच ही पति प्राप्त होंगे।

दूसरी कथा-

-पूर्व जन्म में द्रौपदी राजा नल और उनकी पत्नी दमयंती की पुत्री नलयनी थीं। नलयनी ने भगवान शिव की घोर तपस्या की। भगवान शिव जब प्रसन्न होकर प्रकट हुए तो नलयनी ने उनसे आशीर्वाद मांगा कि अगले जन्म में उसे 14 इच्छित गुणों वाला पति मिले।

-शिवजी नलयनी की तपस्या से प्रसन्न थे, परंतु उन्होंने उसे समझाया कि इन 14 गुणों का एक व्यक्ति में होना असंभव है। किंतु जब नलयनी अपनी जिद पर अड़ी रही तो भगवान शिव ने उसकी इच्छा पूर्ण होने का वरदान दे दिया।

- इस वरदान में 14 गुणों से संपन्न अधिकतम 14 पति होना और प्रतिदिन सुबह स्नान के बाद पुन: कुंआरी होना भी शामिल था। इस प्रकार द्रौपदी भी पंचकन्या में एक बन गईं।

- नलयनी का पुनर्जन्म द्रौपदी के रूप में हुआ। द्रौपदी के इच्छित 14 गुण पांचों पांडवों में थे। युधिष्ठिर धर्म के ज्ञानी थे। भीम 1,000 हाथियों की शक्ति से पूर्ण थे। अर्जुन अद्भुत योद्धा और वीर पुरुष थे। सहदेव उत्कृष्ट ज्ञानी थे व नकुल कामदेव के समान सुन्दर थे।
