अप्रैल 2018 में मध्यप्रदेश कांग्रेस की कमान संभालने वाले कमलनाथ बीते ढाई साल से प्रदेश कांग्रेस के सबसे ताकतवर नेता बने हुए हैं। विधानसभा चुनाव से ठीक पहले प्रदेश कांग्रेस की बागडोर संभालने वाले कमलनाथ विधानसभा चुनाव के नतीजों के बाद प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री बनने के साथ-साथ प्रदेश कांग्रेस की बगडोर भी अपने ही हाथों में ही रखी।
आज मध्यप्रदेश कांग्रेस पूरी तरह कमलनाथ के आसपास ही घूमती हैं। विधानसभा चुनाव में कांग्रेस को पंद्रह साल बाद सत्ता की वापसी की राह दिखाने वाले प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष कमलनाथ उपचुनाव में भी पूरी कमान अपने हाथों में ही ले रखे हैं। उपचुनाव वाली 28 सीटों पर उम्मीदवार तय करने के साथ ही कमलनाथ कांग्रेस के चुनाव में सबसे बड़े चेहरे भी हैं।
कमलनाथ जब भी मीडिया के सामने आते हैं तो उपचुनाव में प्रदेश में अपनी सरकार की वापसी को लेकर कॉन्फिडेंस में नजर आते है। चुनानी मैनेजमेंट में माहिर समझे जाने वाले कमलनाथ के कॉन्फिडेंस की सबसे बड़ी वजह उनको कांग्रेस आलाकमान की तरफ से पूरी तरह फ्री हैंड मिलना है।
अप्रैल 2018 में मध्यप्रदेश कांग्रेस की कमान संभालने वाले कमलनाथ की गिनती कांग्रेस के उन नेताओं में होती है जो सीधे दस जनपथ तक अपनी पहुंच रखते हैं। कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी के करीबी नेताओं में जिन नेताओं की गिनती होती हैं उनमें कमलनाथ का नाम सबसे ऊपर आता है। मध्यप्रदेश में 2018 के विधानसभा चुनाव से पहले राहुल गांधी ने पार्टी अध्यक्ष के लिए युवा सिंधिया के आगे कमलनाथ के अनुभव को तरजीह देते हुए उन्हें प्रदेश कांग्रेस की कमान सौंपी और फिर चुनाव नतीजों के बाद राहुल गांधी की सहमति के बाद वह मध्यप्रदेश में कांग्रेस सरकार के मुख्यमंत्री भी बनें।

प्रदेश में कांग्रेस सरकार बनने के बाद जब कमलनाथ और सिंधिया के बीच टकराव बढ़ा और इस साल मार्च में जब राहुल के करीबी माने जाने वाले सिंधिया ने कांग्रेस को अलविदा कहा तब भी राहुल गांधी कमलनाथ के साथ ही दिखाई दिए। सिंधिया और उनके समर्थक विधायकों के भाजपा में जाने के बाद अब जब प्रदेश में 28 विधानसभा सीटों पर उपचुनाव हो रहे है तब कमलनाथ ही पूरी कांग्रेस के कप्तान है।
चुनावी रण में अकेले पूरी कमान संभालने वाले कमलनाथ अकेले ही भाजपा को चुनौती दे रहे हैं। मध्यप्रदेश का उपचुनाव कमलनाथ बनाम शिवराज पर आकर टिक गया था। इस बीच लंबा सियासी अनुभव रखने वाले कमलनाथ ने रविवार को डबरा में अपने चुनावी भाषण में सियासी मर्यादा लांघकर भाजपा उम्मीदवार और प्रदेश की महिला बाल विकास मंत्री इमरती देवी को ‘आइटम’ कह दिया।
कमलनाथ के इस बयान को लपकते हुए भाजपा ने इसे महिला सम्मान के साथ जोड़ते हुए कमलनाथ से माफी की मांग की। बयान के काफी तूल पकड़ने के बाद आखिरकार कमलनाथ ने अपने बयान पर खेद जताया लेकिन माफी मांगने से इंकार कर दिया। भाजपा इससे संतुष्ट नहीं हुई और मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने कमलनाथ के बयान को लेकर कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया को पत्र लिख दिया।
इस बीच मंगलवार को राहुल गांधी ने कमलनाथ के बयान से असहमति जताते हुए कहा कि “कमलनाथ भले ही मेरी पार्टी के हैं लेकिन जिस भाषा का उन्होंने इस्तेमाल किया हैं निजी तौर पर मैं उसे पंसद नहीं करता हूं”। वहीं राहुल गांधी के इस बयान के बाद भी कमलनाथ ने माफी मांगने से साफ इंकार करते हुए कहा कि वो राहुल जी की राय है और उनको जो समझाया गय...और मैं क्यों माफी मांगूंगा।
पहले राहुल गांधी का कमलनाथ के बयान से असहमति जताना और फिर कमलनाथ का राहुल के बयान को उनकी निजी राय के बाद कांग्रेस के खेमे में सन्नाटा पसरा हुआ है। वहीं अब भाजपा पूरी ताकत के साथ कमलनाथ पर हमलावर हो गई है। मुख्यमंत्री शिवराज सिंह चौहान ने तंज कसते हुए कहा क मुझे यह समझ नहीं आ रहा कि कांग्रेस के कार्यकर्ता मानेंगे किसकी,राहुल गांधी जी मानेंगे या कमलनाथ जी की मानेंगे। कांग्रेस की स्थिति तो ये हो गई है कि एक दिल के टुकड़े हजार हुए, कोई इधर गिरा,कोई उधर गिरा।
मध्यप्रदेश के उपचुनाव में भाजपा लंबे समय से कमलनाथ को घेरने की कोशिश कर रही थी और पहले कमलनाथ को उद्योगपति और शिवराज को भूखा नंगा बताने वाला कांग्रेस नेता का बयान और उसके बाद कमलनाथ का आइटम वाला बयान चुनावी रण में भाजपा के लिए मुंह मांगी मुराद साबित हो रहा है।
वहीं दूसरी ओर कांग्रेस के सबसेे नेता राहुल गांधी और कमलनाथ के 'आइटम' वाले बयान पर आमने सामने आने का असर कांग्रेस के पूरे चुनावी अभियान पर भी पड़ सकता है। कांग्रेस ने पिछले दिनों उपचुनाव के लिए अपनी जो स्टार प्रचारकों की सूची जारी की थी उसमें राहुल और प्रियंका गांधी का भी नाम शामिल था और यह माना जा रहा है कि कि दोनों ही बड़े नेता ग्वालियर-चंबल में चुनाव प्रचार करने आएंगे भी।
'आइटम' वाले बयान पर राहुल की कमलनाथ से नाराजगी के बाद अब सवाल यह भी उठ रहा हैं कि क्या राहुल गांधी मध्यप्रदेश में कांग्रेस के लिहाज से बेहद महत्वपू्र्ण माने जाने वाले चुनाव में पार्टी के लिए प्रचार करने आएंगे भी या नहीं वहीं पूरी कांग्रेस और कमलनाथ अब उपचुनाव में बैकफुट पर दिखाई दे रहे है।
