6 . पहले दिन दिन का खेल जब खत्म हो रहा था, तब कप्तान विराट कोहली और चेतेश्वर पुजारा मैदान पर जमे हुए थे। 87वें ओवर में मिशेल स्टार्क ने पूरे दिन का सबसे बेहतरीन मैडन ओवर डाला। इस ओवर में विकेटकीपर टिम पेन ने विराट कोहली का कैच टपकाया। ऑस्ट्रेलिया को यह कैच टपकाना भारी पड़ सकता है। हालांकि नाबाद बल्लेबाज चेतेश्वर पुजारा (68) का कैच भी तब टपकाया गया था, जब वे 33 रनों पर नाबाद थे।
7. पर्थ के विकेट की तुलना में मेलबोर्न का विकेट काफी धीमा है। गेंद टप्पा खाने के बाद आराम से बल्ले पर आ रही है लेकिन कुछ मौके ऐसे भी आए जब गेंद अनइनवन बाउंस लेकर बल्लेबाज ही नहीं विकेटकीपर टिम पेन को भी छका गई। ऐसी ही गेंद 87वें ओवर में स्टार्क ने डाली थी। खुद स्टार्क भी हैरत में थे कि गेंद को इतना अनचाहा बाउंस कैसे मिल गया।
8. ऑस्ट्रेलियाई गेंदबाज स्लो पिच से मायूस नजर आए। उन्हें उम्मीद थी कि पर्थ की तरह यहां का विकेट भी तेज और उछालभरा होगा लेकिन पहले ही दिन इसका चरित्र उजागर हो गया।
9. भारत ने पिछले टेस्ट की टीम में अंतिम 11 में तीन बदलाव किए। मयंक अग्रवाल के अलावा रोहित शर्मा और रविंद्र जडेजा को अंतिम एकादश में शामिल किया गया है जबकि मुरली विजय, केएल राहुल के अलावा उमेश यादव की छुट्टी की गई है। मयंक और हनुमा ने नींव तो मजबूत बना दी है। इसका फायदा मध्यक्रम के बल्लेबाजों को मिलेगा।
10. भारत ने पहले दिन भले ही 2 विकेट पर 215 रन बना लिए थे। टीम के लिए बेहतर स्थिति तब बनेगी, जब पहली पारी का स्कोर 450 या 475 तक पहुंचे। इस स्कोर को स्पर्श करने के बाद भारत ऑस्ट्रेलिया पर दबाव बना सकता है।
