अजा जया एकादशी की अद्भुत कहानी: संकल्प और श्रद्धा की मिसाल
Aja Ekadashi story in Hindi: हिन्दू धार्मिक शास्त्रों के अनुसार प्रतिवर्ष भाद्रपद कृष्ण एकादशी को जया अजा एकादशी रखा जाता है। भादो में पड़ने वाली यह एकादशी समस्त पापों का नाश करने तथा अश्वमेध यज्ञ का फल देने वाली मानी गई है। इस दिन विधिपूर्वक पूजन के पश्चात एकादशी व्रत की कथा अवश्य ही पढ़नी अथवा सुननी चाहिए।ALSO READ: अजा जया एकादशी कब है, क्या है इसका महत्व और पूजा का शुभ मुहूर्त

इस व्रत की कथा के अनुसार प्राचीन काल में हरिशचंद्र नामक एक चक्रवर्ती राजा राज्य करता था। उसने किसी कर्म के वशीभूत होकर अपना सारा राज्य व धन त्याग दिया साथ ही अपनी स्त्री, पुत्र तथा स्वयं को बेच दिया।
वह राजा चांडाल का दास बनकर सत्य को धारण करता हुआ मृतकों का वस्त्र ग्रहण करता रहा। मगर किसी प्रकार से सत्य से विचलित नहीं हुआ। कई बार राजा चिंता में डूबकर अपने मन में विचार करने लगा कि मैं कहां जाऊं, क्या करूं, जिससे मेरा उद्धार हो? इस प्रकार राजा को कई वर्ष बीत गए।
एक दिन राजा इसी चिंता में बैठा हुआ था कि गौतम ऋषि आ गए। राजा ने उन्हें देखकर प्रणाम किया और अपनी सारी दु:खभरी कहानी कह सुनाई। उनकी बात सुनकर गौतम ऋषि कहने लगे कि, 'हे राजन तुम्हारे भाग्य से आज से सात दिन पश्चात भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष की अजा नाम की एकादशी आएगी, तुम विधिपूर्वक उसका व्रत करो। इस व्रत के पुण्य प्रभाव से तुम्हारे समस्त पाप नष्ट हो जाएंगे।' इस प्रकार राजा से कहकर गौतम ऋषि अंतर्ध्यान हो गए।
ऋषि के कहें अनुसार राजा ने एकादशी आने पर विधिपूर्वक व्रत व जागरण किया। उस व्रत के प्रभाव से राजा के समस्त पाप नष्ट हो गए। स्वर्ग से बाजे बजने लगे और पुष्पों की वर्षा होने लगी। उसने अपने मृतक पुत्र को जीवित और अपनी स्त्री को वस्त्र तथा आभूषणों से युक्त देखा। व्रत के प्रभाव से राजा को पुन: राज्य मिल गया।
अंत में वह अपने परिवार सहित स्वर्ग को गया। यह सब अजा एकादशी के प्रभाव से ही हुआ। अत: जो मनुष्य यत्न के साथ विधिपूर्वक इस व्रत को करते हुए रात्रि जागरण करते हैं, उनके समस्त पाप नष्ट होकर अंत में वे स्वर्गलोक को प्राप्त होते हैं। ऐसी एकादशी का व्रत करने वाले व्रतधारियों को कई शुभ फलों की प्राप्ति होती है। इस एकादशी की कथा सुनने मात्र से अश्वमेध यज्ञ का फल प्राप्त होता है।
