बीआर चोपड़ा की महाभारत के बारे में कुछ रोचक बातें...

1. 1985 में बीआर चोपड़ा ने टेलीविजन के लिए महाभारत बनाया। इसका पहली बार प्रसारण अक्टूबर 1988 को शुरू हुआ और जून 1990 को खत्म हो गया। महाभारत के 94 एपिसोड है।

2. गुफी पेंटल महाभारत के कास्टिंग डायरेक्‍टर थे, और उन्होंने शकुनि की भूमिका भी निभाई थी। विभिन्न पात्रों को अंतिम रूप देने के लिए उन्हें 8 महीने की वीडियो टेस्टिंग और हिन्दी डिक्शन टेस्‍ट में लगे।

3. रूपा गांगोली से पहले द्रौपदी का अहम रोल बॉलीवुड की सुपरस्टार जूही चावला को ऑफर किया गया था। लेकिन उन्होंने दूसरे प्रोजेक्ट की वजह से यह रोल करने से मना कर दिया।

4. शो में द्रौपदी चीर हरण के लिए बीआर चोपड़ा ने 250 मीटर की एक अनकट साड़ी बनवाई। द्रौपदी के चीर हरण का सीक्वेंस इतना दर्दनाक था कि उसे करते वक्त रूपा गांगुली रोने लगी थीं।
