हज़ारों सालों से फ़ैशन पसंद लोग बेहतर दिखने के लिए मेकअप का इस्तेमाल करते आ रहे हैं। ऐसे लोग फ़ैशन की दुनिया में चल रहे ट्रेंड से अपडेट भी रहते हैं। अब मेकअप की इस हर पल बदलती दुनिया में कोरियाई मेकअप ने दस्तक दी है।
दुनिया भर में कोरिया के ट्रेंड बढ़ रहे हैं। बीते कुछ सालों में कोरियाई संगीत के-पॉप, कोरियाई शो का चलन पश्चिम सहित दुनिया के बाकी देशों में बढ़ा है और अब पश्चिम देशों के नौजवानों को कोरियाई मेकअप भी ख़ूब भा रहा है जिसे 'के-ब्यूटी' कहते हैं।
मशहूर कोरियाई बैंड बीटीएस के सातों पुरुष सदस्यों से लेकर कई कोरियाई सेलिब्रिटी अपने एक तय 'लुक' के लिए जाने जाते हैं। पिछले 18 महीने से 'के-ब्यूटी' इसका चलन पश्चिम देशों में भी नज़र आ रहा है। रिटेल शोधकर्ता मिंटेल की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक़, साल 2017 में कोरियाई ब्यूटी इंडस्ट्री की क़ीमत लगभग 13 अरब डॉलर थी।
त्वचा का ख़याल है अहम
मैरी क्लेयर की डिजिटल ब्यूटी एडिटर कैटी थॉमस कहती हैं, ''कोरियाई मेकअप की ओर लोगों के बढ़ते रुझान का बड़ा कारण इसका नयापन है। कोरियाई ब्यूटी इंडस्ट्री दुनिया से 10-12 साल आगे चलती है। इंस्टाग्राम और ब्यूटी ब्लॉग की मदद से हम इससे क़दम से क़दम मिलाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं।''
कोई भी मेकअप लगाने से पहले कोरियाई लोग त्वचा का काफ़ी ख़याल रखते हैं। ये लोग इस बात का ख़याल रखते हैं कि त्वचा बेहतर हो और दाग-धब्बे छुपाने के लिए फ़ाउंडेशन या अन्य मेकअप सामग्री की ज़रूरत ना पड़े। थॉमस कहती हैं, ''कोरियाई संस्कृति में लोगों के मन में ये छोटी उम्र में ही डाल दिया जाता है कि उन्हें अपनी त्वचा का ख़याल रखना है।''
आमतौर पर लोग मेकअप से पहले तीन-चरण का इस्तेमाल करते हैं जिसमें क्लिंज़र, टोनर और मॉस्चराइज़र शामिल होता है। लेकिन कोरियाई लोग मेकअप से पहले 7 से 12 चरणों का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। जिसमें त्वचा पर प्राकृतिक सामग्रियों का इस्तेमाल ज़्यादा किया जाता है। थॉमस कहती हैं, ''ये कुछ लोगों को बहुत ज़्यादा लग सकता है लेकिन इसे ऐसे समझना होगा कि आप अपनी त्वचा के आहार का ख़याल रख रहे हैं। यूके में ये कोरिया से बेहद अलग है।''
कोरिया में मेकअप को लेकर काफ़ी ज़्यादा शोध किए जाते हैं क्योंकि यहां प्रतिस्पर्धा बहुत ज़्यादा है। हर कोई सबसे बेहतर बनने की कोशिश में लगा है। लंदन स्थित के-ब्यूटी बार की संस्थापक कैरेन हॉन्ग कहती हैं, ''कोरियाई ब्यूटी इंडस्ट्री नए प्रयोगों को लेकर हमेशा आगे रहता है। अपनी नई सामग्री से लेकर फॉर्मूला तक वह हमेशा प्रयोग करते हैं जिन्हें पश्चिमी देश कभी नहीं अपनाना चाहेंगे।''
ऐसे ही नायाब कोरियाई सामग्री का ज़िक्र करते हुए वह बताती हैं, ''कोरियाई त्वचा को नम बनाए रखने के लिए घोंघा के प्रोटीन का इस्तेमाल करते हैं। त्वचा के तेल को कम करने के लिए मधुमक्खियों के मोम का इस्तेमाल किया जाता है।''

कितना सफ़ल है ये मेकअप?
अमेरिका में 10 से 17 साल की लगभग 13 फ़ीसदी महिलाएं के-ब्यूटी के उत्पाद इस्तेमाल करना चाहती हैं। वहीं, 18 फ़ीसदी 18 से 22 साल की महिलाएं इन उत्पादों का इस्तेमाल कर चुकी हैं। मिंटेल की ब्यूटी विश्लेषक एंड्रीयू मैकडॉगल का कहना है, ''कोरियाई मेकअप का चलन तेज़ी से बढ़ा है जिसका श्रेय डिजिटल बाज़ार रणनीति को दिया जाना चाहिए। सोशल मीडिया के जरिए इसने पश्चिमी ब्यूटी ब्लॉगरों के बीच अपनी लोकप्रियता बढ़ाई है।''
''ग्राहक इसे लेकर ज़्यादा जानकारी रखते हैं और इससे जुड़े शोध ख़ुद करते हैं। हां, ये कहा जा सकता है कि मेकअप ब्लॉगर इन्हें प्रोडक्ट की जानकारी देते हैं।''
कैटी थॉमस भी इससे सहमत दिखती हैं कि के-ब्यूटी की रंगीन और कार्टूनी झलक उनके उद्योग का बहुत बड़ा हिस्सा है। इन उत्पाद को लोग इसकी मज़ेदार पैकेजिंग के लिए भी खरीदते हैं। ताकि ये उनके बाथरूम की शोभा बढ़ा सके। ब्रिटेन में इन उत्पादों को ऑनलाइन बाज़ार से ही ख़रीदा जा सकता है।
साल 2015 में शुरू हुआ यसस्टाइल डॉट कॉम कोरियाई मेकअप को एक बड़े बिज़नेस के तौर पर देखता है। हॉन्ग-कॉन्ग की ये ई-कॉमर्स कंपनी लगभग 150 कोरियाई ब्रांड रखती है। यसस्टाइल के अनुमान के मुताबिक़, साल 2018 में के-ब्यूटी के 25 मिलियन डॉलर की कीमत के उत्पादों की बिक्री होगी।
यसस्टाइल की संपादक रूमी रोज़ रेयस का कहना है, ''पश्चिमी देश इन दिनों 'नो मेकअप' मेकअप लुक की ओर आकर्षित हो रहे हैं। जिसमें मूलतः त्वचा को चमकदार बनाने पर ज़ोर रहता है। आजकल 'नैचुरल' मेकअप का ही चलन है।" बीबी (ब्यूटी-ब्लेमिश क्रीम) और सीसी (कलर करेक्टिंग क्रीम) इस तरह के मेकअप का ही हिस्सा है।
पश्चिमी देश और के-ब्यूटी
कई पश्चिमी देशों की ब्यूटी कंपनियां के-ब्यूटी के बढ़ते चलन को देखते हुए ऐसे उत्पाद अपनी ब्रांड के तहत भी उतार रही हैं। मैरी क्लेयर कहती हैं, "कई ऐसे पश्चिमी देशों के ब्रांड हैं जो अपने ब्रांड में ऐसे उत्पादों को शामिल कर रही हैं। उदाहरण के लिए वाईवेस सैंट लॉरेंस ने कुशन फउंडेशन और कुशन ब्रलशर उतारा है। लोग के-ब्यूटी को अपने ब्रांड का हिस्सा बना रहे हैं।"
इस बार गर्मियों प्रीमार्क कंपनी ने के-ब्यूटी के उत्पादों की रेंज उतारी थी जिसकी बिक्री काफ़ी तेज़ी से हुई थी। कंपनी के प्रवक्ता ने बीबीसी को बताया, "दक्षिण कोरियाई मेकअप को लेकर बढ़ते चलन के कारण इन उत्पादों को उतारा गया था। और कंपनी आगे भी फ़ेस मास्क की बिक्री जारी रखेगी। हमने ये महसूस किया कि ये उत्पाद हमारे नौजवान ग्राहकों को लुभा रहा है। ये वो वर्ग है जो अपनी त्वचा की देखभाल को लेकर कभी गंभीर नहीं रहा।"
के-ब्यूटी का चलन टिकेगा या जल्द ख़त्म हो जाएगा? इस सवाल पर मैरी क्लेयर कहती हैं, ''ये मेकअप इंडस्ट्री में टिकेगा क्योंकि नौजवानों में पर्यावरण को लेकर चिंता है साथ ही वे इस बारे में भी सोचते हैं कि इसका इंसानों पर क्या असर पड़ेगा। लोग अपनी त्वचा को लेकर गंभीर होते जा रहे हैं। प्रदूषण इतना बढ़ गया है कि ये हर पल हमारी त्वचा के लिए नुकसानदेह साबित हो रहा है। ये सबसे बड़ा कारण है जो कोरिया के मेकअप को लोगों के बीच प्रासंगिक बनाएगा।''
यहां पुरुष भी करते हैं मेकअप
बाकी देशों में मेकअप महिलाएं इस्तेमाल करती हैं और मेकअप उत्पाद बनाने वाली कंपनियों का ख़ास ध्यान महिलाओं पर ही रहता है। लेकिन कोरिया में महिलाओं के साथ-साथ पुरुष भी मेकअप करते हैं। के- ब्यूटी उत्पादों का एक बड़ा व्यवसाय मर्दों की मेकअप सामग्री के ज़रिए करता है।
क्या पश्चिमी देशों में के-ब्यूटी पुरुषों के बीच लोकप्रिय बन पाएगी? इस सवाल पर कैरेन हॉन्ग का कहना है, ''कोरिया में पुरुष त्वचा की देखभाल और मेकअप को अलग नज़रिए से देखते हैं। खासकर जवान पीढ़ी के बीच मेकअप काफ़ी लोकप्रिय है, अच्छा दिखना उनके आत्मविशवास को बढ़ाता है। लेकिन ये चलन अब तक पश्चिम देशों में नहीं है।''
मिंटेल के एंड्रीयू मैकडॉगल भी इस पर सहमति जताते हैं। वह कहते हैं, ''पश्चिमी देशों के ब्रांड में पुरुषों के लिए उत्पाद उतारने का चलन बढ़ा तो है लेकिन यहां के पुरुषों के बीच यह चलन आने में काफ़ी वक़्त लगेगा।''... हाल ही में फ़्रांस की फ़ैशन ब्रांड शनैल ने कोरिया में 'बॉय डे शनैल' उत्पादों की रेंज उतारी थी। हालांकि, कंपनी ने अपने देश फ्रांस में ये उत्पाद नहीं उतारे।
