वैदिक ज्योतिष में सूर्य के शुभ या अशुभ प्रभाव जातक कुंडली या जन्मपत्री की दशा, अन्तर्दशा या प्रत्यन्तर्दशा दशा के दौरान देखने को मिलते हैं। मान्यता है कि जब सूर्य अपना अशुभ प्रभाव देने लगता है तो उसके पूर्व संकेत मिलने लगते हैं, परंतु लाल किताब के अनुसार सूर्य के अशुभ होने की कुछ निशानियां होती हैं फिर भले ही सूर्य कुंडली में कैसी भी स्थिति में बैठा हो। आओ जानते हैं दोनों ही तरीकों से सूर्य के अशुभ होने के पूर्व संकेत को।
लाल किताब के अनुसार सूर्य के अशुभ होने के संकेत
1. व्यक्ति अपना विवेक खो बैठता है।
2. दिमाग समेत शरीर का दायां भाग सूर्य से प्रभावित होता है।
3. सूर्य के अशुभ होने पर शरीर में अकड़न आ जाती है।
4. मुंह में थूक बना रहता है।
5. दिल का रोग हो जाता है, जैसे धड़कन का कम-ज्यादा होना।
6. मुंह और दांतों में तकलीफ हो जाती है।
7. बेहोशी का रोग हो जाता है।
8. सिरदर्द बना रहता है।
9. घर की पूर्व दिशा दूषित हो जाती है।
10. व्यक्ति देर से सोता और देर से उठता है।
11. नौकरी में बाधा आती है।
12. राजाज्ञा का उल्लंघन होना होता है।
13. राज्य की ओर से दंड मिलता है।
14. तांबा या सोना खो जाता है या चोरी हो जाता है।
15. यदि घर पर या घर के आस-पास लाल गाय या भूरी भैंस है तो वह खो जाती है या मर जाती है।
16. जातक देवता, पूर्वज, गुरु और पिता का सम्मान करना छोड़ देता है।
17. जातक रात्रि के कर्मकांड करने लगता है।
इसके साथ ही यदि कुंडली में सूर्य और शनि एक ही भाव में हो तो घर की स्त्री को कष्ट होता है। यदि सूर्य और मंगल साथ हो और चन्द्र और केतु भी साथ हो तो पुत्र, मामा और पिता को कष्ट। शुक्र, राहु और शनि के साथ मिलने से सूर्य मंदा फल।

वैदिक ज्योतिष के अनुसार
1. घर में आने वाले प्रकाश में बाधा उत्पन्न हो जाती है।
2. उजाला देने वाले उपकरण खराब हो जाते हैं।
3. रोशनदान बंद हो जाता है।
4. किसी अधिकारी वर्ग से मनमुटाव हो जाता है।
5. राज्य-पक्ष से परेशानी खड़ी हो जाती है।
6. व्यक्ति के मुंह में अक्सर थूक आने लगता है तथा उसे बार-बार थूकना पड़ता है।
7. जातक की खेती है तो किसी कारण से फसल सूख जाती है।
8. यदि न्यायालय में विवाद चल रहा हो तो विपरित परिणाम निकलता है।
9. शरीर के जोड़ों में अकड़न तथा दर्द बना रहता है।
10. सिर पर चोट लगती रहती है।
11. तेज धूप में भटकना पड़ता है।
12. सूर्य जन्म-कुण्डली में जिस भाव में होता है, उस भाव से जुड़े फलों की हानि करता है। जैसे यदि सूर्य पंचमेश, नवमेश हो तो पुत्र एवं पिता को कष्ट देता है। सूर्य लग्नेश हो, तो जातक को सिरदर्द, ज्वर एवं पित्त रोगों से पीड़ा मिलती है। मान-प्रतिष्ठा की हानि का सामना करना पड़ता है।
