सूअर का दिल लगने के 2 महीने बाद ही मरने वाले मरीज में वायरस मिला
अमेरिका की मेरीलैंड यूनिवर्सिटी में डॉक्टरों ने एक मरीज के शरीर में सूअर का दिल लगाया था। करीब 2 महीने बाद ही मरीज की मौत हो गई। अब वैज्ञानिकों को सूअर के दिल में जानवरों का वायरस मिला है।
मानव शरीर में सूअर का दिल ट्रांसप्लांट करने की अमेरिका में हुई कोशिश ने खूब सुर्खियां बटोरीं। यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ मेरीलैंड के डॉक्टरों ने जनवरी में डेविड बैनेट सीनियर नाम के एक मरीज का यह अनोखा ऑपरेशन किया था। हालांकि 2 महीने बाद मार्च 2022 में बैनेट की मौत हो गई। तब से वैज्ञानिक मौत की वजह का पता लगाने की कोशिश कर रहे थे। अब एक जांच के बाद सामने आया है कि प्रत्यारोपित दिल में जानवरों में पाया जाने वाला एक वायरस मौजूद था। यही वायरस मौत की वजह बना या नहीं यह अभी तय नहीं है। मेरीलैंड यूनिवर्सिटी के डॉक्टरों ने बताया कि उन्हें सूअर के दिल में एक वायरल डीएनए मिला है। हालांकि पोर्काइन साइटोमिगेलोवायरस नाम का यह वायरल डीएनए संक्रमण की वजह था या नहीं, इसकी जांच चल रही है।
इस घटना के बाद जानवरों से मानव शरीर में अंगों के ट्रांसप्लांट की संभावनाओं को झटका लगा है। ऐसे ट्रांसप्लांट से इंसानों में नए तरीके के संक्रमण की चिंताएं भी बढ़ी हैं। डेविड बैनेट का ऑपरेशन करने वाले मेरीलैंड यूनिवर्सिटी के सर्जन डॉ. बार्टले ग्रिफिथ के मुताबिक, कुछ वायरस सुप्त अवस्था में होते हैं यानी वे बिना कोई असर डाले शरीर में दुबके रहते हैं। संभावना रहती है कि संक्रमण करने वाले वायरस के लिए वे मददगार बन जाएं। डॉ ग्रिफिथ की अमेरिकन सोसाइटी ऑफ ट्रांसप्लांटेशन को दी एक प्रेजेंटेशन के आधार पर इस मामले में जानवरों का डीएनए मिलने की पहली जानकारी 'MIT टेक्नोलॉजी रिव्यू' मैग्जीन में सामने आई है।
यूनिवर्सिटी के जीनोट्रांस्प्लांट प्रोग्राम(एक से अन्य प्रजाति में ट्रांसप्लांट) के वैज्ञानिक निदेशक मोहम्मद मोहिउद्दीन ने बताया कि यूनिवर्सिटी ज्यादा गहन जांच करने वाले टेस्ट बना रही है ताकि इस तरह के वायरस प्रत्यारोपण से पहले की जांच के दौरान छूट ना जाएं।
अचानक दिखे संक्रमण के लक्षण
डॉ. ग्रिफिथ ने कहा कि उनका मरीज बीमार था लेकिन तबीयत में सुधार नजर आ रहा था। एक दिन अचानक संक्रमण के लक्षण दिखे। डॉक्टरों ने कई टेस्ट किए ताकि समस्या का पता लगाया जा सके। बैनेट को कई तरह के एंटी-बायोटिक, एंटी-वायरल दिए गए और प्रतिरोधक क्षमता बढ़ाने के लिए उपचार दिया गया। सूअर का प्रत्यारोपित दिल सूजने लगा। इसमें द्रव भरने लगा और आखिर में दिल ने धड़कना बंद कर दिया।
जब ग्रिफिथ से पूछा गया कि हृदय में सूजन क्या वायरस की वजह से है तो उन्होंने साफ किया कि इस बारे अभी सही जानकारी उपलब्ध नहीं है। वहीं अमेरिका के अन्य संस्थानों में अब भी जानवरों के अंगों को मृत मानव शरीरों में डालने का अभ्यास चल रहा है ताकि जल्द ही इसे जिंदा लोगों पर दोहराया जा सके। सूअर के अंग में मिला वायरस इसे किस तरह के प्रभावित करेगा, यह अभी स्पष्ट नहीं हो सका है।
भविष्य की चिंताएं
दशकों से डॉक्टर जानवरों के अंग प्रत्यारोपित करके इंसानों की जिंदगी बचाने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। आज तक इसमें पूरी तरह सफलता नहीं मिल पाई। बैनेट के मामले में भी यह कोशिश की गई थी। वो धीरे-धीरे मौत की ओर जा रहे थे और मानव दिल का प्रत्यारोपण उनके मामले में संभव नहीं था। डॉक्टरों ने आखिरी तरीके के तौर पर सूअर के जेनेटिकली मोडिफाइड हृदय को उनके शरीर में प्रत्यारोपित किया था। मेरीलैंड की टीम ने कहा कि बैनेट के शरीर में एक स्वस्थ सूअर का दिल लगाया गया था और उसे अमेरिकी नियामक (फूड एंड ड्रग एडमिनिस्ट्रेशन) की ओर से जरूरी मंजूरी भी मिली थी। ट्रांसप्लांट के लिए सूअर मुहैया करवाने वाली कंपनी रेविविकोर ने पूरे मामले में कोई भी टिप्पणी करने से इंकार कर दिया था।(सांकेतिक चित्र)
